Create Automatic Tutor Log for Services

Our center is beginning to use the "tutor tasks" to identify how tutors are using their downtime when they aren't working with students. This means that when they switch a task, we're asking them to log out and log back in with the new task. That's a bit cumbersome, but I think that's fine if they're switching between, say, giving feedback on an asynchronous student request and working on creating a study guide for students to use to practice a skill. However, I'd like to track this data in relation to the time they do spend directly working with students, so it would be great if appointments and walk-ins could generate not just a student session log but a tutor session log as well. That way, we have the data in one place, and the tutor doesn't have to log the student in, then make the student wait while they log themself in.

Hello. If I understand correctly, you are suggesting that if a student signs in with a certain tutor, the tutor is automatically signed into the same session, and if the student signs out, then the tutor is automatically signed out.
While this might sound like a good idea, it actually would not work well because:
- Tutor might be a no-show for the appointment, but that would not be recorded if the tutor is signed in automatically with a student sign in.
- Tutor might run late for the appointment, but that would not be reflected in the appointment record.
- The student might be a no-show and never sign in while the tutor did show up but did not get credit.
- The student was late signing in, thus making the tutor sign in looks late.
- The student forgot to sign out, making the tutor not signed out either.
The only and best way to make sure you have accurate records for both the student and tutor is to have them sign in and out of their tasks.
